Bulloch County Disaster Recovery Center extended through January 17

The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Bulloch County has extended its operations, remaining open until Friday, January 17, 2025.  Except for Thursday, January 9th.  They are open Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m till 6:00 p.m. and are closed on Sundays.

The DRC is located at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds at 16942 Ga. Hwy 67 in Statesboro.

This extension offers more time for residents affected by Tropical Storm Debby (August 4–20, 2024) and Hurricane Helene (September 24–October 30, 2024) to apply for FEMA disaster assistance and receive in-person support.

Services Available at the Disaster Recovery Center

FEMA representatives at the DRC can help with:

  • Completing disaster assistance applications
  • Uploading documents
  • Answering questions about available resources

Deadline for FEMA Applications

Survivors in counties approved for Individual Assistance must submit their applications by Friday, February 7, 2025. FEMA assistance can cover:

  • Temporary housing needs and rental assistance (survivors must provide documentation and prove ongoing need)
  • Home repairs
  • Other disaster-related expenses

How to Apply

There are several ways to apply for FEMA assistance:

  1. In-Person: Visit a Disaster Recovery Center. Locations and hours are available online at fema.gov/drc or by texting "DRC" and your zip code to 43362.
  2. Online: Apply at DisasterAssistance.gov.
  3. Phone: Call toll-free at 800-621-3362. Assistance is available daily in multiple languages.
  4. Mobile App: Use the FEMA App on your mobile device.

The Georgia Call Center is also available to assist with applications Monday through Saturday at 678-547-2861.

Hurricane Helene

Residents of the following counties are eligible for assistance:
Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Butts, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Columbia, Cook, Dodge, Echols, Effingham, Elbert, Emanuel, Evans, Fulton, Glascock, Glynn, Hancock, Irwin, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Jenkins, Johnson, Lanier, Laurens, Liberty, Lincoln, Long, Lowndes, McDuffie, McIntosh, Montgomery, Newton, Pierce, Rabun, Richmond, Screven, Stephens, Taliaferro, Tattnall, Telfair, Thomas, Tift, Toombs, Treutlen, Ware, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wheeler, and Wilkes.

Tropical Storm Debby

The counties eligible for assistance are:
Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long, and Screven.

National Day of Mourning Closures

All Georgia Disaster Recovery Centers will be closed on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in observance of the National Day of Mourning for President Jimmy Carter. Centers will resume normal operations on Friday, January 10, 2025. During the closure, survivors can still apply or check their application status online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
