Bryce Leatherwood honored by Senator Billy Hickman and GA Senate

Georgia Southern graduate and The Voice Season 22 Champion Bryce Leatherwood, 22, can now add another distinguished accomplishment to his biography, being honored by the State of Georgia for his accomplishments and love of his home state of Georgia.

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Statesboro and Georgia Southern's State Senator, Billy Hickman presented Leatherwood with a Senate Resolution along with words of congratulations and gratitude to Leatherwood.

Leatherwood was joined on the Senate Floor by his parents Hope and Cliff Leatherwood along with Senator Lee Anderson, who is a big fan of Leatherwood and the person who first made Senator Hickman aware that Leatherwood, a Georgia Southern graduate, was in The Voice Competition. Leatherwood grew up in Cherokee County Georgia, and he was also joined by Senator John Albers, Senator Brandon Beach, and Senator Bruce Thompson, who represent Cherokee County.

"Georgia Southern is becoming a hotbed of young county music stars with Luke Byan, Cole Swindell, and now Byce Leatherwood," said Senator Billy Hickman when recognizing Leatherwood.

"To everyone in Georgia and the people of Georgia, thank you so much for constantly voting and putting me where I needed to be to succeed. You know all the finale artists were asked to write a letter to their family or someone important to them and dedicate their experience on The Voice to," said Bryce Leatherwood.  "I chose to write mine to Georgia. Because this great state has meant the most to me as an artist. The people of it. The people who come to shows to support me has been a blessing. God bless Georgia -- Georgia is always on my mind -- and God bless America."
