Brandon's Box of Local Delights: "A $7 SWEAT Success at 180 Fitness!"

I did one of the most daring things that I’ve done all year long.

I stepped foot into a gym.

It was a scary, thrilling experience that required guts.

But more importantly, it required a belief that everything would be okay.

(And that I wouldn’t be laughed out the door upon my first entrance into the building).

Also, what was equally scary was that I hadn’t worked out in the presence of other people in about 8 years. Yes.

I had confined myself to my solo workouts at the park because I felt I wouldn’t measure up the well-trained individuals that regularly grace the gym.

But simply stated:

GC Friends,

I had the most amazing experience at 180 Fitness.

It was a quick, convenient, and affordable endeavor.

And the experience was so dynamic, that I ran into a co-worker, an old friend, and a 2013 High School Classmate in the process.

How funny is that? (I got a 4-for-1 special out of the whole ordeal!)

Small town problems? Perhaps. But It was still a golden highlight!

Upon entering the gym, I walked up to the receptionist and informed her that I would like a day pass for $7.

Ba-da-bing, Ba-da-boom: It was done. QUICK!

I headed straight into my 5:35pm BOOTCAMP Class (which was instructed by Katie) and proceeded to have my world absolutely rocked. (In a good way!)

The class was filled with people of all ages. (That was comforting to me, given that I had been out of the game for a while.)

However, it was a sigh of relief for me when I ran into my co-worker, who also became my workout partner during class.

It was perfect!

We finished Katie’s circuit workout and went to decompress in the gym's sauna after we had finished.

It certainly relaxed my muscles. But in retrospect, it was completely needed as a follow-up to that circuit workout.

Do you see all of the wonder that happened from me simply stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing something new for SEVEN DOLLARS???

Fear seems to only present within our minds.

(It can present itself as a mere figment of our imaginations, but also be at the core of so many missed opportunities regarding our personal growth.)

Don’t let fear stop you from experiencing the amazing local gyms we have here in Statesboro!

Each are welcoming and provide an amazing, inclusive atmosphere.

Let's SHINE and THRIVE, folks!

Until next time,

2 Month Update!

10 personal changes I have noticed after taking 2 months of weekly gym classes:

1. I have increased my daily productivity levels.

2. I have greater clarity of thought and mind.

3. I have clearer skin. (The photo above is un-retouched with no filters).

4. I have abs and greater body definition.

5. I have gotten called muscular a couple of times over the past 2 weeks. (I'm not in comparison to the 180 regulars. However, it is funny to have gone from being referred to as 'toned' to 'muscular'.)

6. I sweat profusely. Constantly. Everyday. All the time. (I kinda like it though!)

7. I leave the gym shirtless after each workout now. (But just mostly because of the profuse sweating!)

8. I have a habit of eating two Steak and Rice bowls after my workouts these days. I tend to leave my workouts pretty RAVENOUS. (Pray for my bank account.)

9. Working out helps me to structure and plow through my day.

10. I am an overall happier and healthier person.
