'Bittersweet' news: Beaver House closing November 27; Family focusing on restoring the house and reimagining the future

In a bittersweet announcement shared on Facebook on November 12, 2024, the Beaver family, who have owned the Beaver House since it was built in 1911, stated that they will serving their final lunch on November 27, 2024:

"Today, we bid farewell to the Beaver House Restaurant as it closes after our final lunch service on November 27th. This bittersweet day marks a celebration of the past, a reflection on the legacy we’ve built, and a look forward to the exciting plans we have in store for the future.

We hope to see everyone one last time before we turn off the lights, turn around the sign, and lock up our final time at the Beaver House.

As we move forward, we are committed to preserving the Big House and ensuring that its legacy continues to shape the fabric of our community. We will continue to bring people together, fostering a sense of unity and belonging that has been the hallmark of the Beaver House for generations."

Sue Beaver, matriarch of the family, shared, "We're ready to tackle the house again. It's been 45 years since we restored the house, and it's time." The home will remain in the family's possession, but they are eager to spend some time repairing and restoring it to its historic beauty.

"We want it to be an asset for the community, not an eyesore," Beaver explained, mentioning the joy of serving the community and hosting many celebrated special occasions over the last 35 years.

When asked about future plans for the Beaver House, she shared that her sons will determine the next steps for the Beaver House once they have taken the necessary time for restorations.

The Beaver House had transitioned to lunch-only service after Covid due to staffing challenges, which, in part, led to this decision.

"We've enjoyed every minute of it, but we are excited to move on to the next chapter," she shared.
