Update: Due to predicted rain, the market will move inside the Statesboro High School lunchroom. Plan to park in the large parking lot and enter through the gym/Lee Hill Arena entrance. Follow the stairs up to the holiday market.
Make plans to shop at the Spirit & Sparkle Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Statesboro High School.
A community project organized by the school's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter, it will feature local vendors where you can find unique gifts for those on your shopping list, musical performances by local elementary school students, and theatrical scenes by high school drama students. Bring the family to the event's Kids' Zone for bouncy houses and fun activities, like Santa's workshop where kids can make ornaments and reindeer food and even write a letter to Santa.
Shoppers are also asked to consider participating in Statesboro High FCCLA’s community service project. A donation station will be set up at the event to collect gently used or new men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes which will be sent to various organizations in need. Youth athletic shoes will also be accepted.
For Statesboro High School's FCCLA Chapter, the Spirit & Sparkle Holiday Market is a way to connect students to the community, serve identified needs, and raise funds for their FCCLA chapter's events and competitions. The event is coordinated by Ava Mincey, who is an FCCLA member at SHS, and faculty advisors and volunteers Rosanna Ward, Lori Morris, and Yolanda Mincey.
FCCLA is a national career and technical student organization that is linked to the school district's Nutrition & Food Science, Early Childhood Education, Teaching as a Profession, and Culinary Arts career pathways for high school students and the Family and Consumer Science pathway for middle school students. Through FCCLA students apply the skills they learn by competing in local, state and national competitions.
