The Statesboro Beautification Commission was established on May 1, 1973. The commission consists of a chairman and 10 members appointed by Statesboro’s Mayor and City Council. The members serve staggered five-year terms. The goal of the Beautification Commission is to maintain the natural beauty of the city and identify areas of improvement—giving specific attention to the city’s existing parks, trees, shrubs, and flowers. The commission currently meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m.

The Statesboro Tree Board was established on January 15, 1991. The board consists of 9 members appointed by Statesboro’s Mayor and City Council. The members serve staggered 6-year terms. The board’s primary responsibility is to hear requests for variances in the enforcement of the city’s Tree Ordinance. The board also partners with forestry and conservation organizations to plant additional trees and enhance green space around the city. The Statesboro Tree Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m.
