The wait is over... Well, almost! The long-awaited confirmation of the third Chick-Fil-A restaurant was confirmed in a report given to City Council by Kathy Fields, Planning Director for City of Statesboro, on Tuesday.
Fields was reporting on all of the commercial growth coming to the city. In the report, she included the permit approval for the new $1.25 million Chick-Fil-A restaurant, which will be constructed at 333 Tormenta Way.
It will be located at the intersection of Akins Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway behind the Publix Shopping Center. The initial site prep has begun, but no construction has started.
We reached out to Chick-Fil-A corporate marketing, and they responded to let us know that the team members in their real estate division are away for the Thanksgiving Holiday. They will provide us an update on the project along with construction timelines soon.
We understand, however, that news this good couldn't wait till next week. We will follow up with more as soon as they release it to Grice Connect.
The original Statesboro Chick-Fil-A restaurant, located at 352 Northside Drive East, continues to be very busy even after a full store rebuild in 2019 and the addition of a double drive through.
The new restaurant will relieve some pressure off of this store. As addicted as Statesboro is to chicken, especially Chick-Fil-A chicken, we predict that all three restaurants will remain very popular and busy.
The second Chick-Fil-A is located inside the Russell Union on the GS campus.
Chick-Fil-A's Statesboro team and their local operators are equally known for their philanthropic support of our community and the wonderful job opportunities they provide to high school and college students. This new location should see those efforts multiplied as well.
Now we all have one more thing to be thankful for as we enter this Thanksgiving holiday.
