Coming back to school after a long winter break and replenishing supplies can be expensive. Luckily, Restoring the Breach hopes to ease the burden on caregivers' wallets with their Repack Your Backpack event. On Saturday, January 28th, the students of Statesboro can acquire vital tools for everyday school life, such as paper, pens, folders, backpacks, colored pencils, tape, and more.

The event will be held outside the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library from 2 to 4pm. The library is located at 124 S. Main St. in Statesboro.

“I know a lot of organizations will do back-to-school drives in the summer,” said LaShai Campbell, executive director and co-founder of Restoring the Breach. “We actually stopped doing back-to-school drives about two years ago in the summer and really just focusing on [only] making sure school supplies get out at the beginning of the year. Once the children get into half of the semester, most of the school supplies they started out with are gone. They lost them. So we wanted to ensure that now that the school year has restarted, students have some extra supplies.”

All items are free and can be acquired for elementary through high school students and even pre-school, if necessary.

Restoring the Breach will also host a community clothing drive on February 18th. If you wish to help with projects like these or future projects of Restoring the Breach, donations can be made at the Outreach Center on Denmark Street.
