Former Georgia Southern quarterback and current Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon will play in Super Bowl LVII. He and his team will face-off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 12, 2023.

McKinnon, originally from Marietta, played for Georgia Southern from 2010-2013. A two-year MVP on the team, McKinnon was also a four-year letterwinner and finished his career with 3,899 rushing yards, placing him third of all-time on the Georgia Southern career list behind only Adrian Peterson (6,559 yards, NCAA Division I All-time Leading Rusher from 1998-2001) and Jermaine Austin (5,411 yards from 2002-2005).

He was described by GS Athletics as an "incredibly versatile, talented athlete who excelled wherever he was put on the field." McKinnon was honored with the Iron Works Dedication Award three times and was a member of the Georgia Southern Football Leadership Council.

The Chiefs defeated the Cincinatti Bengals 23-20 on January 29 to secure their spot in the Super Bowl.

McKinnon was one of four former Eagle football players vying for a spot in the Super Bowl this year.
