The Georgia Southern football program announced Wednesday a football recruiting class composed of 19 student-athletes who signed national letters of intent or grants in aid in the December signing period as part of head coach Clay Helton's second recruiting class.
"We are very happy to welcome a new crop of Eagles to Statesboro and our football family," Helton said. "Today's signees allowed us to address specific areas of needs for next year's football team. These individuals are great people, students and players. They will represent the tradition of excellence that is Georgia Southern."
Georgia Southern welcomed nine players from the state of Georgia, five from Florida, and one apiece from North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee and Australia.
16 of the signees are from the high school ranks with three being JUCO transfers.
The Eagles added 11 players on offense (five linemen, two tight ends, two receivers, a running back, and a quarterback), seven defensive players (five linemen, a linebacker and a defensive back) and a punter. Ten of the 19 players play along the offensive or defensive line.
The late signing period begins Feb. 1, 2023.
