The Statesboro Family YMCA now allows gym members to come at any time of the day or night with their new 24-hour membership.

"It started October 1st; that was our first day we went 24 hours," YMCA Director Hannah Beggs said. "We tried to ease all the members into it. It is just $1 extra per month for 24-hour access, if you're already a member. If you're not already a member, you add an add-on fee for $1 per month, and that's not per individual. It's for the whole household."

This change to the YMCA gym was followed by others as well. For instance, extra lighting and tighter security measures were added to help maintain a safe environment. In addition, 24-hour members will have an extra waiver to sign to ensure awareness that only they and other 24-hour members are allowed in the gym past regular business hours.

For this Black Friday, the YMCA is also offering a month-long free gym membership trial.

"When you first sign up, starting from Black Friday all the way to January 31st, you get your first month free," said Beggs. "And you have no joiners fee. So you can try out the gym basically for a free month.

You can sign up for Statesboro YMCA gym memberships on the YMCA website.
