VIDEO | Fire at Statesboro Summit Apartments contained to one apartment

Statesboro Firefighters incredible response and rapid attack of the fire prevented what could have been a major fire

On Monday, November 28, 2022 the Statesboro Fire and Bulloch County Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at the Statesboro Summit Apartments at 241 North Main.

Bulloch County 911 dispatched the call at 6:27 pm and the first firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes. They reported fire and smoke being visible from the sixth floor of the apartment building and requested additional assistance. They also began evacuating the entire building.

Firefighters made entry into the building and discovered moderate smoke on the sixth floor and located the fire in a single apartment that appeared to be unoccupied.

Thanks to the rapid and aggressive attack of the fire, they had it under control in minutes. They remained on the scene for a little over an hour ventilating the smoke from the building and overhauling the area where the fire occurred.

No injuries in the fire and no one displaced

All of the occupants were allowed back into the building and there was no one displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. Statesboro Fire Investigators also responded to the scene and have began a cause and origin investigation.

The Statesboro Fire Department CAFE team responded to help assist replenishing firefighters air tanks and refreshing the firefighters.

Statesboro Police and Bulloch County Sheriff's officers assisted with crowd and traffic control as well.

Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene as a precaution, but there were no reported injuries.

An American Red Cross Disaster Action Team also responded to assist.
