The Team

The Coaches

Often we hear a lot about the players, who obviously are remarkable, but we wanted to introduce you to the coaching staff who have worked tirelessly to get the team to this point.

The coaching staff are the unsung heroes. Every coach has more than one responsibility, and they all have one mission in common: to distribute the beautiful game to every inch of South Georgia and the low country of South Carolina.

Ian Cameron

Ian Cameron, Head Coach & Technical Director

Ian Cameron serves as the Tormenta FC League One Head Coach, formerly serving as the Head Coach of the USL League Two team and as an assistant coach under John Miglarese. Cameron has been with Tormenta since its 2019 season, where he led Tormenta FC 2 to a Southern Conference championship and the League Two Semifinals, the longest playoff run in club history.

Cameron, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, is the Men’s Soccer Head Coach at Eckerd College where he has brought many victories. Ian received his first Head Coach job with Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida, in 2016. Cameron became the 10th head coach in the 42-year history of the Eckerd program.

Before Eckerd College, Cameron was Assistant Coach for the NCAA Division I Mercer University Men’s Soccer team for three years. His coaching and recruitment led the team to win Mercer’s first Southern Conference Championship. During his time at Mercer, Cameron also worked with the Macon Soccer Club.

Cameron holds two master’s degrees in Quantitative Finance and Business Administration from Mercer University and the University of Glasgow. He currently holds a UEFA C License and is working towards his UEFA B License.

Tom Morris

Tim Morris, Assistant Coach / USL League Two Head Coach

Tom Morris serves as an Assistant Coach for Tormenta FC in League One, as well as the Head Coach of Tormenta FC 2 in League Two. Morris worked as an Assistant Coach to Ian Cameron in 2019, where he assisted Tormenta FC 2 in winning the Southern Conference Championship and reaching the League Two Semifinals, the longest playoff run in club history.

Tom coaches the League Two team, and after spending the entire day with the first team, he spends various hours looking at films that potential prospects send him, or he even goes to recruit when good soccer programs visit Statesboro to play against Georgia Southern.

Prior to joining Tormenta FC Morris had previous USL 2/NPSL coaching experience with Lionsbridge FC and Myrtle Beach Mutiny. As Head Coach of Myrtle Beach Mutiny, he guided the club to their first South Atlantic Conference Championship and a national tournament run ending in the Quarterfinal. Morris also spent the previous seven seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA DII program, Limestone University. While on staff the program won 6 conference championships and qualified for the NCAA national tournament in each year of competition.

Within Morris’s USL League One roles he will be responsible for elements of training session delivery, opponent analysis, video analysis, recruiting, player wellness, and team culture. Morris and his staff will also lead the process of recruiting, managing and coaching the USL League Two side.

A native of Reading, England, Morris holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Rio Grande, and two Bachelors of Science in Sports Management and Athletic Training from Limestone University. He currently holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and is working towards his UEFA C License.

Jorge Gonzalez

Jorge Gonzalez, Assistant Coach

Jorge Gonzalez is a Tormenta FC League One assistant coach. He has been with Tormenta since its 2016 season. Gonzalez graduated from Bryan College with a degree in business administration with a minor in communications before going onto to Reinhardt University for his MBA.

Jorge coaches many Statesboro kids, and he is the only member of the coaching staff to speak Spanish, so many Statesboro locals know who he is. He is also responsible for the players being in top form for every game and helps them train every day, recover and be the best versions of themselves.

Gonzalez began his coaching career at Reinhardt University, where he served as an assistant coach for four seasons, along with coaching for the Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors before coming to Tormenta FC. As a Tormenta FC League One coach, he works side by side with Ian Cameron during training, game preparation, scouting and recruitment. Coach Gonzalez holds a US Soccer ‘C’ License, along with coaching badges from England and Fitness Industry Licenses.

Jordan Melia

Tormenta FC
Jordan Melia, Assistant Coach

Jordan Melia serves as an Assistant Coach for South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL League One team, USL League Two team and USL Academy League team.

Jordan never sleeps, literally. You can see him walking around sleeping as he spends most of his time with the defensive unit trying to help them build chemistry and get fewer goals scored on us. Jordan also coaches the most successful team in our Academy. They are outstanding.

Melia has vast experiences, including playing at Appalachian State University, playing in USL League Two – coached by former Tormenta FC League One Head Coach John Miglarese – and serving as the men’s assistant coach for two years at Fort Hays State University.

He coaches the Tormenta FC U17 USL Academy team, which is the most successful program in their youth academy.

Drew Dejohn

Tormenta FC
Drew Dejohn, Sports Science & Performance Coach

Drew DeJohn serves as an Assistant Coach and Sports Performance Coach for Tormenta FC’s USL League One and League Two teams, as well as an Assistant of Team Operations in the front office and TFC Academy’s Director of High Performance. DeJohn is also the Head Coach for the U13 NPL & U12 Pre-MLS Next teams.

Drew shared that from Monday-Thursday he gets home at 9:30 pm as he crosses state borders to train Tormenta FC academy teams after spending the early parts of the day with the first team.

Dejohn attended SUNY Cortland as a four-year Men’s Soccer student-athlete and earned his Master’s of Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University.

Medical and Sports Science Crew

The Tormenta FC sports science crew that helps Georgia Southern Athletics deserves praise, as well. With the passing of Carter Payne, they made themselves available and were there for all four teams. Every day, they invest in having our players in the best mental place possible. They played a crucial part in this team's success this year.
