United States Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock stopped in Statesboro on Wednesday, October 26, as part of his bid for re-election in the upcoming U.S. Senate race.

Warnock appeared at noon outside the farmer's market building behind Visit Statesboro in downtown Statesboro, where a large crowd of supporters were waiting.

Fellow candidates Madeline Ryan Smith, running for House District 158, and Elizabeth "Liz" Johnson, running for House District 12, spoke preceding his speech.

Len Fatica, Chair of the Bulloch County Democratic Party served as the emcee. Paulette Chavers, Statesboro City Council Lady, also addressed the crowd before Senator Warnock arrived.

"It's great to be back in Coastal Georgia," Warnock, who was born in Savannah, said. "This is my neck of the woods, and y'all are my kind of people."

He noted that he considers it a sacred trust to represent the hopes, dreams, and concerns of his constituents.

He spoke on loving one's neighbor and taking care of each other. He said in order to do that, his focus is on capping the price of insulin, providing healthcare for all, and creating jobs.

Warnock was elected to the Senate in a runoff on January 5, 2021. This was a special election following the resignation of Senator Johnny Isakson. Warnock holds a Bachelor's degree from Morehouse University and Master's degree and PhD from Union Theological Seminary.
