This will be a multi-part series highlighting some of the activities of students in Bulloch County’s Career Technical & Agricultural Education (CTAE) program. All information is provided by Bulloch County Schools.

The purpose of Bulloch County Schools’ Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program is to prepare students for successful careers and build an educated, skilled, and efficient workforce for economic growth in Bulloch County.

The system’s career clusters, career pathways and student technical organizations are the core of CTAE. The classroom instruction and student-led chapters of national technical organizations help the school system leverage partnerships with local businesses, industries, and institutes of higher learning. This helps our youth explore options, learn new skills, and apply those skills in their careers.

Healthcare Students learn the importance of proper protection

Healthcare students learned how to use personal protective equipment (PPE) for infection control. PPE includes protective clothing, gloves, face shields, goggles, facemasks and/or respirators or other equipment designed to protect healthcare professionals from injury or the spread of infection or illness. PPE is commonly used in healthcare settings such as hospitals, doctor's offices and clinical labs. When used properly, PPE acts as a barrier between infectious materials such as viral and bacterial contaminants and a healthcare professional's skin, mouth, nose, or eyes (mucous membranes).

No bones about it; Learning happens in Essentials of Healthcare

Essentials of Healthcare students created 3-D skeletons as part a skeletal system unit. When creating their model students had to create and identify each of the major bones in the human skeleton. Essentials of Healthcare is the second course in the Therapeutic Services Allied Health and Medicine pathway. Students completing Essentials of Healthcare earn two credits - one elective credit and one science credit: Anatomy and Physiology.
