Man shot by Bulloch homeowner after becoming aggressive

The man who was shot remains in stable condition at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah

On Saturday, September 17, 2022 at approximately 7:00 pm Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies and Investigators responded to a man shot in the 7600 block of Old River Road South, which has a Brooklet, Georgia address.

Upon arrival, Bulloch Sheriff's Lieutenant Tracy Miller obtained statements that the man shot was Roderick Lowery, 46. According to the release Lowery came into the residence and became aggressive with an elderly couple and teenage children that resided there.

During the incident, Lowery directed his attention towards the elderly male and started to aggressively approach him. The homeowner gave verbal commands to the aggressor” for him to stop and leave his house.

Lowery continued to advance towards the homeowner which resulted in him shooting Lowery in the chest area.

After being shot Lowery left home and got into his vehicle and drove away. As other deputies arrived on the scene, they found Lowery and his girlfriend down the road from the incident location, in the vehicle matching the description of the vehicle he left the scene in.

Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene and stabilized Lowery and requested Air Evac medical helicopter to respond to a landing zone near the scene. Air Evac transported Lowery to the region's Level One Trauma Unit at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah for further treatment.

At the time of this story, Lowery remains in stable condition at Memorial Medical Center and the case remains under investigation.
