Kathleen Kosmoski has joined the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as its manager of workforce development. In this newly created position, Kosmoski will help to refine and implement the Society’s strategic direction for workforce development and manage and contribute to the creation of new programs and partnerships that address the projected mechanical engineering and technical workforce shortage, including ASME’s Community College Engineering Pathways pilot program. She reports to Ashley Huderson, Ph.D., director of engineering education and outreach for ASME.

Kosmoski brings decades of experience in workforce development, continuing education, nonprofit management and fundraising to her new position with ASME. Most recently, she was director of continuing education and business/industry training for Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro, Ga. Previously, she was executive director of the American Red Cross in Statesboro and Augusta, Ga.

“ASME recognizes the need to help connect colleges and universities with industry on the skills and traits needed to produce a viable and competitive workforce. We felt it was time to bring in a dedicated person to help us develop and create a strategy for the future,” says Huderson. “Kathleen, with all of her experience, leadership and communication skills, is the right fit.”

Kosmoski earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in community health and a Master of Science degree in health promotion from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. She is a past president and current member of the Georgia Continuing Education Association (formerly Georgia Adult Education Association).

“I’m proud to join such a long-standing and highly respected organization where I have the opportunity to innovate,” says Kosmoski.

About ASME

ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges.  Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world.  ASME recently formed the International Society of Interdisciplinary Engineers (ISIE) LLC, a new for-profit subsidiary to house business ventures that will bring new and innovative products, services, and technologies to the engineering community.
