Next summer, Georgia Southern University will open its campus to hundreds of the state’s best and brightest for the Governor's Honors Program (GHP).
GSU’s Statesboro Campus will host the Georgia GHP, a prestigious four-week, residential summer program for high school students, in June 2023.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to host the GHP at Georgia Southern,” said GSU president Kyle Marrero.
The GHP provides students with an all-expenses paid academic and social experience. The program is designed to aid them in becoming the next generation of global innovators and leaders.
“Having these students on our campus will allow us to showcase our spectacular facilities and academic programs. We look forward to welcoming these students and their families,” Marrero added.
Students can apply to attend GHP for a variety of majors in academic studies or fine arts.
“For years, the GHP has provided its students the opportunity to pursue their academic and artistic interests and grow as the next generation of leaders,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “I am confident GSU president Kyle Marrero and his staff will provide an excellent campus experience, and I look forward to the future of this prestigious program at the home of the Eagles.”
According to GHP, the program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom.
Students will attend classes during the day and participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening.
While GHP students are in Statesboro, they will be living in GSU residence halls. The only costs for students will be travel expenses and spending money as desired during the program.
The program will run from June 18 through July 15, 2023.
