Child Advocacy Services SEGA, Inc. is hosting the 10th Annual Guyton Superhero 5K for CASA Powered by Nease, Lagana, Eden, and Culley on Oct. 29, 2022.
This year's event features a 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Both runners and volunteers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superheroes.
Child Advocacy Services SEGA, Inc. is the sponsoring agency for CASA Ogeechee and the Ogeechee Visitation Centers. CASA Ogeechee serves Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven Counties.
CASA speaks up for children who have been abused or neglected by empowering community volunteers who advocate for these children in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, a Juvenile Judge often appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations to serve the child’s best interests.
Last year, nearly 150 children were in the custody of DFCS in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. CASA Volunteers represented 98 children. In the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, it costs, on average, $1,070 to provide and advocate for a child for one year.
All proceeds benefit CASA Ogeechee's efforts in speaking up for children who experience foster care. In 2022, CASA Ogeechee is celebrating 20 Years of Advocacy in our community.
