Through the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative 20 classroom improvement grants of $250 will be awarded to deserving teachers.

This year, Georgia Southern University Athletics (GSUA) is partnering with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation to give back to teachers in our area. The Extra Yard for Teachers initiative's goal is to show appreciation for local educators.

Classroom grants of $250 each will be awarded to 20 teachers in Bulloch, Chatham, and Liberty counties. Grant applications must include itemized budgets and are due by Monday, Aug. 29.

The CFP Foundation works through multiple partnerships to execute its initiatives and support positive educational outcomes.

"We look forward to seeing the initiatives and projects that teachers in Bulloch, Chatham, and Liberty Counties put forth as a part of the Extra Yards for Teachers initiative," said Gleen Hart, Georgia Southern's Senior Associate Athletics Director in Student-Athlete Development.

Grant recipients will receive recognition at the Georgia Southern Teacher Appreciation Football game on Sept. 24.

Each grant recipient will receive two complimentary tickets to the game and will be a part of an on-field presentation.

"This partnership is exciting as we get to recognize teachers who are a vital part of our campus communities,” said Hart.
