The Accident

At 1:28 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022, Bulloch County 911 dispatched Bulloch County EMS to 620 Fair Road, directly across from the Food World grocery store, for a Lime electric scooter accident. Statesboro Police officers were on the scene and reported the male victim was unresponsive.

Bulloch EMS transported the 20 year old male to EGRMC in critical condition. They reported that the man had been hit by a car while riding a lime scooter.

At 2:06 AM Bulloch EMS was requested to transport the man to the regions level one trauma center, Memorial Medical Center, in Savannah. EGRMC had requested Air Evac to transport him, but due to weather they were unable to fly.

Because of his critical condition, Air Evac's crew assisted Bulloch EMS's paramedics with the ground transport to Savannah.

According to officials, Payne was crossing the five lane Fair Road at Food World on a Lime scooter when he was hit by a car. The driver of the car left the scene.

Georgia State Patrol is in charge of the accident.
