OTC

Jennifer Evans is the Transportation Manager with Dot Foods. Michael Summers is the CEO of Summertime Enterprises Inc. They both recently visited Ogeechee Technical College Business and Logistics students to discuss career options in these fields.

Evans is a frequent guest of Ogeechee Tech. She spent some time talking about career opportunities that are available behind the wheel or in other areas. During her visit she shared the ins and outs of DOT transportation operation. As well as some of the challenges they’ve faced throughout the pandemic.

“Our presenters did a really good job painting a picture of the current state of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management,” said Jillian Walton, Logistics Instructor at OTC. “Our students had the opportunity to hear about job availability, and were encouraged to pursue transportation careers to fill the many supply chain and logistics openings.”

Summers also serves on OTC’s Local Board and as chair of OTC’s Logistics Advisory Board. He shared his wisdom and successes in supporting supply chain needs and how transportation supports all industries.

“I tell my students all the time that transportation is the glue that holds the supply chain together,” said Walton.

“Having both Jennifer Evans and Michael Summers share their experiences and explain the important role transportation plays in supporting all industries was a timely message for our students.”
