Statesboro native, Dr. Samose Mays will be having a book signing Saturday, April 9th (11:30 – 1pm) at the University Store on the GS Statesboro Campus. The book is entitled, “Leadership Skills from a Former Follower: A Blueprint for Success”.

In his first book, Dr. Samose L. Mays talks about how he lost his way on the journey through life but was able to get back on his feet and start over. Dr. Mays went from a two-time college dropout to a well-respected national leader. In the book, he gives advice on the importance of empowering others and utilizing transformational and servant leadership.

Samose Mays

Dr. Samose Mays is a parks and recreation professional in Bryan County, college professor, and national speaker that looks to develop future leaders on his travels through life.

Reflecting on his unique journey, Dr. Mays recalls a promise he made to his mother, Elvera Mays, to do something great with the values that she instilled in him.

Elvera was a great friend to Lori and me. She was the bright spot of every room she entered and was devoted to making a difference her community she loved so much. We worked most closely through the local American Heart Association chapter. She was, and I am sure now from heaven continues to be, very proud of Samose.
