The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) at Georgia Southern University recently presented awards to art students as part of “Fabricated: A Wearable Art Exhibition.” The juried, pop-up show featured wearable artworks made by undergraduate and graduate students taking 3D studio art courses.
Students created their pieces from a variety of materials and their artwork ranged from jewelry, hats and masks to wearable sculptures. Some of the artists wore their own work while other artists used models to share their work.
Of the more than 65 artworks submitted by students from the Statesboro and Savannah campuses to the exhibition, 44 were accepted into the show.
“I’m so proud of the works our students presented, the quality and creativity,” said Christina Lemon, a professor of jewelry and small metals.
Caitlin Ceccotti, a first-year studio art major, was awarded first place for her mixed media wearable sculpture “Internal Conflict.” Breannan Gamez, a junior 2D studios major, received second place for her work “Wood and Metal Necklace.” Eva Wilcher, a sophomore art education major, earned third place with her fabric piece titled “Handsy.”
Finalists were Mackenzie Arroyo, Kaylah Baker, Callie Birt, Jacquelyn Bolton, CJ Burke, Caitlin Ceccotti, Kelly Conrad, Brianna Davis, Katsi Delgado Cruz, Cee Cee Ely, Ansley Foil, Brennan Gamez, Pragya Gupta, Jamea Grant, Jonathan Harper, Jess Harrison, Emma Hughes, Shayla Iwanski, Kya Kelly, Amy Mills, Ellie O’Quinn, Carmello Paccor, Seth Prior, Jayde Pullom, Nina Rainey, Piper Ramirez, Andrea Richardson, Mabry Rigdon, Amanda Martinez Rivera, Tyler Ruarks, Kennedy Sawyer, Ashley Smith, Angel Thomas, Elise Walker, William Warren, Amanda Watson, Serah Whisman, David White, Elizabeth Wiggins, Eva Wilcher, Avery WIlliams, and Jaylan Williams.
This exhibition was juried by Assistant Professor of Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design Hope Wallace.
