After serving as Fire Chief of Bulloch County for 10 years, Christopher Ivey has moved to accept the position of Fire Inspector with the County.

In this integral new role as Fire Inspector, Ivey will inspect construction projects for compliance, investigate possible infractions, provide information and technical assistance concerning fire code requirements, and conduct fire prevention and fire safety programs.

“It has been an honor and privilege to have served as the Chief for the past 10 years,” says Christopher Ivey. “There have been many accomplishments made by the department and I know that the team will continue to provide excellent service to the citizens of our County.”

“Chris’ experience as a Fire Chief will be invaluable to this new position, which is a key recommendation of the Fire Department’s Strategic Plan,” says County Manager Tom Couch. “Ben Tapley has been named as the Interim Fire Chief where he has previous experience in such capacity in Screven County. This will allow us to operate seamlessly as we begin recruitment for the Fire Chief position.”

The Fire Chief position will begin accepting applications soon at www.bullochcounty.net.

Grice Connect wishes Chris the best as he takes on this important new role. He has been a great friend and supporter to Grice Connect and Bulloch VOAD in his role as Bulloch County Fire Chief. We look forward to working with Chris in continuing to improve fire safety and awareness in our community.
