Statesboro Jaycees Celebrate 2021 with Year End Awards Banquet

The Statesboro Jaycees celebrated their 2021 Year End Awards Banquet on February 5, 2022. Members and their guests gathered for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner at Bull and Barrel Steakhouse.

The Statesboro Jaycees celebrated their 2021 Year End Awards Banquet on February 5, 2022.  Members and their guests gathered for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner at Bull and Barrel Steakhouse. Members of the Statesboro Jaycees were recognized for their efforts in our community over the past year and exemplifying the organization’s core values of leadership, fellowship, development, and service.

Outgoing President Hugh Mays welcomed guests by stating, “The last line of the Jaycees Creed is ‘Service to humanity is the best work of life.’ It is recited loud and proud at the end of our monthly chapter meetings. Service is in the heart of every Jaycee. It is one of our chapter’s core values, and I believe it is what makes this organization so successful. Service to humanity is often the glue that holds many great communities together. Without a doubt in my mind, I can say that we served our community this year.” 

2021 President Hugh Mays and Vice President Allison Murphy hosted the awards banquet and presented the following awards:

  • Trailblazer Award - Meagan Lee
  • Personal Achievement Award - Christy Kennedy
  • Rising Star Award - Bailey Catrabone
  • Project of the Year Award - Allison Murphy (Miss GSU/Bulloch County Relay for Life)
  • Membership Recruitment Award - Christa Cranford
  • Business Partnership Award - Statesboro Family YMCA (presented to Statesboro Family YMCA Branch Director Hannah Beggs)
  • 2021 Jaycee of the Year - Meredith Avery
  • Outstanding Leadership Award - Hugh Mays

The Statesboro Jaycees hosted many local events in 2021 including the Miss GSU/Bulloch County Relay for Life Pageant, the 2nd Annual Luck of the Irish Raffle, the Toys for Tots drive, and a Community Blood drive, which totaled over 200 service hours. The Jaycees also collected 220 books for the Bulloch County Literacy Council. Members contributed over 650 volunteer hours at community events including the Georgia Police K9 Foundation’s Evening for the K9’s, TMT Farms Christmas Lights Drive-Thru, YMCA Trunk or Treat, and Feed the Boro.

The Statesboro Jaycees are looking forward to a very exciting year in 2022 

In March, the third annual Luck of the Irish Raffle event will be held by the Jaycees. Tickets will be available for purchase at $10. Follow the Statesboro Jaycees Facebook page (facebook.com/StatesboroJaycees) for updates on when ticket sales will begin and this year’s prizes (which will once again include the Ultimate ‘Boro Restaurants Gift Card Package).
