VFW Posts in Georgia are collecting items to support tornado victims

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10825 is supporting the Department of Georgia in asking for help from the residents of Bulloch County for the people in Kentucky who were victims of the tornados this past weekend.

They are coordinating with VFW's in these communities to help determine needs and to distribute the items when received.

The media attention has been focused on the larger towns and little to no mention has been about damages to small towns such as Bremen, Dawson Spring, Hickory, and other small communities.

They will be accepting the following items (the list is not all inclusive):

  • new blankets
  • new towels and wash cloths
  • new clothes (winter coats, gloves, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats, socks, underclothes, pajamas)
  • diapers
  • baby formula
  • wipes
  • non-perishable food items (baby food, ramen, canned and instant soups, peanut butter, jelly, apple sauce, crackers, chili, spaghetti (canned or sauce and pasta), tea, coffee (not Keurig), canned goods (16oz size)—green beans, corn; rice; beans)
  • bathroom and facial tissues
  • paper plates
  • cutlery
  • disposable cups
  • trash bags
  • personal hygiene products (male and female)
  • new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls.

Please do not deliver bottled water…they have been told that the availability of water is not an issue.

If you wish to deliver any of these items, Post 10825 will be receiving these items at American Legion Post 90, located at 100 Rucker Lane (just off of 301 South), Statesboro.

Members will be available to receive donation on Saturday, December 18th from 10am until 3pm.

Cash contributions will also be accepted.  Make checks payable to VFW Department of Georgia.
