At 1:47 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 Bulloch County 911 dispatched emergency services to a pedestrian struck by a car on the Stilson-Leefield Road near Dan Beasley Road in the Stilson Community in Bulloch County.
A Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputy was the first to arrive at the scene and determined that the person struck by the car did not survive the crash. They notified Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch who responded to the scene.
According to Coroner Futch, Stilson native Ashley Blitch age 31 was killed on impact after being struck by a car in front of her home. They believe she was possibly outside retrieving her mail when her dog got away from her and in the process of getting the dog she was accidentally struck and killed.
Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene as well. There were no other injuries reported.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash. There are no further details at this time.
According to Coroner Futch, Joiner Anderson Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements for Mrs. Blitch.
