UPATE 1:17 PM – The precautionary lockdown at Mill Creek Elementary School ended at 12:24 PM, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, students and employees continue to be safe and school will continue as normal.

The Bulloch County BOE appreciates the support of local law enforcement, who have the adult suspect in custody. The board would also like to extend their thanks for the cooperation of employees and parents during this situation.

An adult, who was not at the school, made a terroristic threat against a Mill Creek Elementary School employee. The incident was immediately reported to the Statesboro Police Department who continues to have charge of the investigation.

At 9:39 AM, the Bulloch County Board of Education sent out an alert that Mill Creek Elementary School was being placed under lockdown. “Terroristic threats” made by an adult to a MCES staff member was quickly reported to the Statesboro Police Department.

At the time this article was published the police still remain on scene.

Below is the media advisory sent out to parents of students at MCES:

Students and employees are safe; however, as a safety precaution, Bulloch County Schools has placed Mill Creek Elementary School on temporary lockdown this morning and law enforcement officers are on site.  

Please do not come to the school or request to pick up children at this time. Please monitor notifications from the school district for further details as to when the lockdown has ended.

During the lockdown, please help keep lines of communication open by not contacting the school office or school personnel by telephone.
