At 2:26 am, Sunday, September 26, Bulloch County EMS responded to a pedestrian that was struck by a car at the intersection of Burkhalter Road and Thompkin Drive at the entrance of Burkhalter Plantation.
Burkhalter Plantation is a predominantly student housing subdivision. The pedestrian was not a student.
The pedestrian was transported to EGRMC E.D. in critical condition.
Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the pedestrian as De'Shaun Davis a 28 year old Glennville native who was living in Statesboro. Davis died from his injuries at EGRMC. September 26th was Davis's 28th Birthday.
According to Coroner Futch, Davis was laying down parallel to the lines in the road when he was struck by a car. Davis did not live in Burkhalter Plantation or on Burkhalter road.
Davis's body will be sent to the GBI crime lab in Pooler for further processing.
GSP is in charge of the accident investigation.
