Averitt kicks off Frozen fun in the Emma Kelly Theater

Over 30 local kids will bring Elsa, Anna and the magical land of Arendelle to life in the historic Emma Kelly Theater for the Averitt Center’s presentation of Disney’s Frozen Jr. this weekend and the next.

The Averitt’s Junior Theater Company production, directed by Averitt executive artistic associate Robert Cottle, features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

The shows that kick off this year's season, which are slated for July 16-18 and July 23-25, feature all of the lovable characters from the 2013 Disney animated blockbuster.

Tickets for the reserved-seat performance are $15 for adults ($13 for ACA members, active and retired military, first responders, city of Statesboro and Bulloch County employees) and $10 for students.They can be purchased in the Box Office at the Averitt Center Main Gallery (open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday), online or by calling 912-212-2787.

The description of the production reads: '"A story of true love and acceptance between two sisters, the enchanting musical expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure and plenty of humor, Frozen Jr. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart."
