Two House Fires In Less Than 24 Hours Keep Fire Departments Busy

Bulloch and Statesboro Fire Departments responded to two house fires in less than 24 hours. At approximately 6:30 PM on Wednesday afternoon, April 28, Bulloch 911 dispatched Bulloch County Fire and Statesboro Fire Departments to a house fire on Twin Forks Road in the Nevils community.

When firefighters arrived they found a modular home with heavy smoke presenting from a room on the front side of the home. They were able to contain the fire to that room. There was significant damage to one room of the home. According to Bulloch County Fire Chief Chris Ivey, firefighters on the scene believe the fire began as an electrical fire in a closet. Because it was believed to be electrical power was temporarily disconnected from the residence.

The American Red Cross was notified and provided temporary assistance to the family.

West Main Street Fire

On Thursday, April 29 around 1 PM, Bulloch 911 dispatched the Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments to a heavily involved house fire on West Main Street in the City of Statesboro. When the call was dispatched, heavy smoke was visible from the downtown area.

The first arriving engine from the Statesboro Fire Department made a quick initial fire attack and was able to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure. The wooden structured home did receive heavy fire damage to the front rooms of the house and the porch. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the home. There were no injuries in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Statesboro Police Department closed West Main Street temporarily from Ivory Street to Proctor Street.

Statesboro Fire will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross was notified and are assisting the displaced family temporarily.

The two fires are not connected.
