The Statesboro Fire Department (SFD) responded to 6503 Emily Lane in the Johnson Run
Subdivision on April 12th, 2021. Units from the Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire Departments were
dispatched at 4:04 pm and arrived on scene to find a single family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire showing from the front portion of the house. Firefighting crews were able to make an interior fire attack and found that the majority of the fire was contained to the garage area of the house. During the firefighting operations, firefighters were made aware of two dogs that were still in the house which, were removed from the structure uninjured.

“I’m confident that the time of day this incident occurred helped minimize the amount of destruction the fire could have created. We know that there is a direct correlation between how quickly we are notified after a fire starts to the amount of damage we are able to mitigate. With this fire occurring in the early afternoon, neighbors were able to spot the smoke coming from the house and call 911 before the fire was able to significantly spread to other parts of the house” commented Statesboro Fire Chief Tim Grams.

Statesboro Fire Cause and Origin Investigators were able to determine that the cause of the fire in Johnson Run was attributed to a golf cart battery.

Members of the Statesboro Fire Department’s CAFE Team were called to the scene to assist the residents with needs associated with the fire.
