Cochran, Georgia Man Killed in I-16 Crash Thursday Morning

A Cochran, Georgia man was killed in a single car crash on the westbound lane of I-16 at mile marker 123 in Bulloch County Thursday, April 22. Bulloch 911 dispatched emergency services to the I-16 crash around 8 am.

A Cochran, Georgia man was killed in a single car crash on the westbound lane of I-16 at mile marker 123 in Bulloch County Thursday, April 22.

Bulloch 911 dispatched emergency services to the I-16 crash around 8 am. Upon arrival they found a victim entrapped in a heavily damaged Chevy Impala in a wooded area off the shoulder of the interstate.

Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as 25 year old man, Taylor Kirkpatrick with a Cochran, Georgia address. Futch believes Kirkpatrick was killed on impact. It is believed he was on his way to work at Gulfstream Aerospace at the time of the accident.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Bulloch County Sheriff, Fire, Rescue, EMS and Coroner responded to the scene along with GSP and GA DOT which assisted with traffic control.

Due to the location and damage of the vehicle the extrication process was extended.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. GSP is in charge of the accident investigation.

Second I-16 Accident Closes I-16

Shortly after emergency personnel had cleared the scene of this accident at mile marker 123 there was a second two vehicle accident at mile marker 132 which sent the driver of and overturned vehicle to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. This accident closed the westbound lane for over an hour, while the accident was investigated and cleared.
