Statesboro Police Captain Kaleb Moore was injured at approximately 3:40 pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Captain Moore was riding a Statesboro Police motorcycle on routine patrol when he collided into the rear of a red Chrysler Van. The accident occured at the entrance of the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department on Highway 301 North. At this time the accident report has not been released by GSP.

However, the impact threw Captain Moore from the motorcycle onto the roadway. There was heavy damage to both the motorcycle and to the van. Captain Moore was alert and talking on the scene. He was initially transported by Bulloch County EMS to EGRMC and then by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.

Broken Bones, But Full Recovery Expected

"Captain Moore broke some bones, but it is nothing that will not mend", said Statesboro Police Chief Mike Broadhead. "He will have some rough days ahead as his body heals, but all of his injuries will heald and there is nothing life threatening. The doctors expect he will make a full recovery".

Heavy Police Presence

Helicopters were requested, however they were not able to fly due to weather conditions. The ambulance was escorted by multiple police agencies to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah from EGRMC.

Traffic was congested for hours due to highway 301 north being closed from Packinghouse Road to Veterans Memorial Parkway while Georgia State Patrol officers investigated the accident.

Grice Connect received many inquiries regarding the heavy police presence on highway 67 and I-16 today. This is the reason for the police presence.

Grice Connects sends prayers out to Captain Kaleb Moore and his biological family and his extended police family. It is accidents like this that remind us of the incredible sacrifice these men and women make everyday to protect our community.
