A man rams victims cars then sets cars and house on fire, in a bizarre turn of events on Saturday night in the eastern part of Bulloch County.
At 8:27 pm on Friday, February 13th Bulloch County Deputy Rhett Kelley responded to a domestic call at 1264 T.R. Smith Road, Ellabell. The victim told 911 that a man in a large white pickup truck was ramming his truck into the victims home and other vehicles in the yard.
Upon arriving at the scene it appeared the offender, later identified as Christopher Harper, had pulled a vehicle into the garage and set it on fire.
Deputy Kelley immediately notified dispatch of a structure fire and began evacuating the residents. Bulloch Sheriff's Sergeant Jeff White arrived at the scene to assist.
Deputies realized the Harper lying near the fire and were able to drag him to safety. He was then arrested and transported to Bulloch County jail. Harper has been charges with Arson in the first degree, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in the second degree.
Preliminary investigation by the deputies indicated that Harper was currently living at the incident location and was in a relationship with one of the victims.
Home was a Total Loss
Bulloch County Fire Department with assistance from the Statesboro Fire Department responded to battle the fire. The home was a total loss. The Savannah Red Cross responded to assist. We have reached out to get contact information and list of needs. We will update the story once this is received.
Sheriff Brown would like to commend the Deputies involved for their quick response and the decisive action they took to make sure the residence was evacuated and to locate and arrest the offender.
