Ogeechee Technical College hosted ten hand-selected individuals to pilot a program geared toward attaining a Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification.

Working closely with Microsoft and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), OTC instructor Terry Hand agreed to host the Microsoft Azure training, a cloud-computing service created by Microsoft, to help assess the program.

“Microsoft Azure is a cloud-computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing and deploying applications or services through Microsoft managed data centers,” explained Hand. “It has been a pleasure working with both Microsoft and TCSG to pilot this program for consideration into the official TCSG curriculum, and to provide some additional training for IT professionals here in our community.”

The ten students selected for the pilot program were chosen from among IT staff at Ogeechee Technical College and Georgia Southern University, as well as two current OTC students and an OTC Cybersecurity graduate.

“Once the program was completed we did a thorough evaluation and sent feedback to Microsoft to help them determine how to improve and proceed with future trainings,” said Hand.
The course was held over a period of 4-weeks and was designed to give participants some hands-on training with Microsoft Azure and prepare them for the Microsoft AZ:900 certification exam.
