Last updated on January 1, 2021

Around 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 31, Bulloch County EMS responded to a hunting accident on RT Meyer Road near highway 46 in the Ellabell area of Bulloch County. When they arrived they found a 12 year old boy who had suffered a gunshot wound. The 12 year old, Bulloch County resident was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to this being a minor, authorities will not release the name of the victim or the name of the shooter who was also a minor.

According to Bulloch County Coroner, Jake Futch the two boys were hunting squirrels when one of the boys accidentally shot and killed the other boy.

Futch was assisted in the investigation by the Bulloch County Sherriff’s office and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The body of the victim will be transported to the GBI crime lab in Pooler on Monday for a routine review.

This is a normal process in for a shooting accident. Corner Futch does not believe there was any foul play and does not expect any charges to be brought against the other child in the Bulloch county hunting accident.
