Tommy Palmer, Statesboro Radio Icon and Author lost his courageous battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.
“Our Dad, Tommy Palmer passed away last night after a courageous battle with cancer. He is in his forever home now and out of pain. Julie, Jarett, and I want to thank everyone who loved and supported dad in his life and broadcasting career. Special thanks to his church family at Pittman Park Methodist Church and the many friends who called or visited. It really meant a lot to him. Plans for his memorial are incomplete at this time but will be released when they are finalized. Thank you for your continued prayers during this time”, said Jay Palmer, son of Tommy Palmer.
Palmer’s voice was one of the most recognizable ones on radio across Georgia, especially when it came to high school football. Since 2005, he produced and hosted the Scoreboard Show, which aired every Friday night during football season on more than 50 radio stations across Georgia.
Palmer was a native of Daisy, Georgia in Evans County and authored a book, “The Daisy Boy’s Club“, which chronicled growing up in rural America.
