Mayor Jonathan McCollar is pleased to announce the appointment of five new commissioners to the Housing Authority of the City of Statesboro. The commissioners have replaced the previous five members of the board and will serve staggered years of service.

The commissioners and their expected years of service are as follows:

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of the new housing authority commissioners,” said Mayor McCollar. “I have confidence that each commissioner is up to the challenge, and I am very excited to witness their progress as they work to provide affordable and safe housing for our community.”

During their first meeting, the newly appointed commissioners elected Dorsey Baldwin as Chairman of the Commissioners and Crystal Simpkins as Vice Chairman. The commissioners also made a resolution to add two additional commission seats, to which the Mayor has made appointments.

The additional two commissioners are:

  • Henrietta Abrams, a retired Bulloch County Schools Administrative Assistant and Housing Authority resident (one year of service)
  • Victor Dickey, a Sales Manager at Vaden Nissan-Savannah Car Rental (one year of service)

Mayor McCollar wishes to express his gratitude to the former commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Statesboro which included Tom Armstrong, Clark Deloach, Jim Davis, George Sabb and Al Braswell for their years of service to the Authority and to the community.

The late Bobby Cason served as the long time director of the housing authority until his death earlier this year.
