Marcus Wilson

Tuesday morning, August 18th, beginning at 8:30 AM www.GriceConnect.com will have a live feed of the Marcus Wilson hearing from the Bulloch County Courthouse Annex.

This will be the first appearance hearing for William Marcus Wilson, a 21-year-old college student who faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in the June 14th death of a 17-year-old Claxton High School student, Haley Hutcheson.

Superior Court Judge Michael Muldrew will preside over the hearing which will begin at 8:30 AM in the Bulloch County Courthouse annex.

Wilson’s first hearing on July 7 was continued to Tuesday, August 17th due to two witnesses who had tested positive for COVID-19.  They closed the courthouse for several days for cleaning after the cancelled hearing.

Court officials have stepped up the safety protocols for COVID-19.  Because of this they will greatly limit the number of people in the courthouse and courtroom.  Due to these restrictions Judge Muldrew is allowing a live feed of the hearing.

Judge Muldrew issued a gag order preventing any further pretrial comments by attorneys or people connected to either side of the case.

FBI Evidence Recovery Team

Three days after the postponed hearing, the Statesboro Police department, Georgia Southern University Police and Bulloch County Sheriff’s department along with multiple agencies from other communities assisted members of the FBI Evidence Recovery Team in the areas where the incident began and the shooting took place.

They were seen walking shoulder to shoulder down the roads between Taco Bell on Northside Drive East to the area where the shooting occurred on the Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Wilson’s legal team are preparing a “stand your ground” defense and ask for bond at the hearing.
