Motorist this morning reported a heavy police presence on Northside Drive East from Taco Bell to the bypass and then on the south lanes of the bypass between Northside Drive and Fair Road. In addition to the Statesboro Police Department, Georgia Southern University Police and Bulloch County Sheriff’s department, there were multiple agencies from other communities. Citizens also reported seeing K-9 units and members of the FBI Evidence Recovery Team walking shoulder to shoulder down the road.
This is the area where the June 14th incident occurred that lead to the shooting death of Haley Hutcheson, a 17-year-old Claxton High School Student. William Marcus Wilson, a 21-year-old college student has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in Haley’s death. Wilson and his attorneys are working to build a “stand your ground” case in which Wilson was defending himself and his girlfriend who was in the car with him.
