The Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce has been working with local businesses to find creative ways to help customers shop local during the COVID-19 crisis.  A few weeks ago, Sean Fox with Pioneer Design and Josh Whitfield of Whitfield Signs launched a free web site:

OnandOpen.com

which is focused on making it easy for customers to support some of their favorite local businesses without leaving their home.  This helps the business generate much needed cash flow and also allows customers to support them by shopping local from the comfort of their home.

As businesses begin to slowly open up, OnandOpen.com is a perfect way to continue helping small businesses in Bulloch County.

$2,000 Contribution to Encourage Shopping Local

To help encourage more Bulloch County residents to shop local, Lee, Hill and Johnston Insurers , in partnership with Auto-Owners Insurance, has made a $2,000 contribution to the Chamber to help promote shopping local.

Skip Alford, President of the Chamber, is working with OnandOpen.com to use this contribution to feature and help small businesses who are Chamber members and have been significantly impacted by COVID-19.

Local Business Featured Weekly

Beginning this week, the Chamber will place all local businesses who are chamber members and are participating with OnandOpen.com in a drawing.  The winning business will become the featured business of the week and will be promoted through Chamber marketing, Grice Connect, OnandOpen.com and Eagle 94.9 , along with other local media and a shopping spree to the featured business will be given away.

“Weeks ago, Core Credit Union led the way in beginning the popular “Pay it Forward” campaign.  Seeing this, Lee, Hill and Johnston Insurers reached out to help in a creative way like CORE Credit Union is doing.  We felt that the best way to leverage this gift to help the most small businesses was with a partnership with OnandOpen.com.  This is a win-win.  A local business who is a member of the chamber gets great exposure and a guarantee sale of $200 weekly”, said Skip Alford.

“In addition, all local businesses who are participating in OnandOpen.com will get the benefit from more people being given an extra incentive to shop local with the chance to win a $200 shopping spree.  We know it is going to take creative and innovative ideas like this, along with our community pulling together to shop local where they can and supporting small local businesses, to get us through this stronger than ever.”

Over 50 Businesses participating with OnandOpen.com

Sean Fox, Creative Director of OnandOpen.com , has been pleased with the response so far from local businesses and the community.

“We have seen over $10,000 in purchases and commitments from sponsorship’s like this pushed out to local businesses already.  The feedback from the businesses has been wonderful as has the customers supporting local businesses by purchasing gift certificates”, said Sean Fox.

“Another local corporate donor has stepped up anonymously and is making up the difference to the local businesses they are discounting their gift certificates for.  Businesses on OnandOpen.com are discounting their offer to help increase the value of the gift certificate and as a thank you to their customers for supporting them in this challenging time.  For instance, a business may sell a gift certificate valued at $25 for $20.  The anonymous donor will contribute the $5 so the local business gets the full amount and the customer’s get a great value”.

Weekly Gift Certificate Given Away to Featured Business Weekly

Best yet, anyone who makes a purchase of a gift certificate at OnandOpen.com supporting any local business on the website will be eligible for the weekly drawing.

The gift certificate will be a minimum of $200, however the featured business has the opportunity to increase the value of the gift.  Each Friday, the Chamber will draw one winner for the gift certificate and will also draw the chamber business participating with OnandOpen.com to be next week’s featured business.

$300 Shopping Spree at R.J. Pope The Featured Business of the Week

This week’s featured business is R.J. Pope Mens and Ladies Apparel with two locations, one in Downtown Statesboro and the second location in Buckhead Plaza.  Ronnie Pope, the owner of the R.J. Pope, has increased the gift certificate to $300 for this first week.  Go now to onandopen.com and purchase gift certificates to any business participating and you are immediately enrolled in the drawing for a $300 R.J. Pope Mens and Ladies Apparel gift certificate which will be given away at noon on Friday.  What a GREAT way to shop for Mother’s Day!
