The Statesboro YMCA temporarily closed Friday night March 20th for regular operations and is cleaning and preparing the facility over the weekend to accommodate a camp for 50 children.  They want to help expand child care options for public safety workers and critical health care workers.

Beginning on Monday, March 22nd, they will offer a camp for children from 6 AM to 7:30 PM weekdays. This is only open to public safety and critical health care workers.

The Y will open Saturday and Sunday,  from 10 am to 12 noon for parents to come and register their children.  Parents must register their children in person, bring their updated immunization records and show identification validating they work for one of the agencies included.

The cost of the program is $30 per child per day.  Financial assistance is available if they can’t afford the $30 per day fee.

This is not a drop in child care service.  Parents much register their child by noon on the preceding day before they need care so the Y can plan staff accordingly.

They will comply with CDC recommendations in sanitary conditions and keeping group sizes to ten or smaller.

Bulloch County Schools drop point

In addition to childcare, the Statesboro Y will also serve as a drop point for food delivery for Bulloch County Schools at noon on weekdays.  All children welcome.

  • There are no income restrictions
  • There are no I.D.s or registration required
  • Bulloch Schools will feed ANY child ages 0-18
  • If a child is not a resident of Bulloch County and may be residing here temporarily, they are welcome
  • NO child will be refused
  • Children do need to be present to receive food.

Sponsor a Student

If you would like to chip in and sponsor one student for one day for $30 or for one week it is only $150.  This would be a huge help for our Health Care and Public Safety Hero’s in this tremendously stressful time for them.  If you would like to sponsor a child email Dorsey Baldwin, Manager of the Statesboro YMCA at [email protected]
