VOAD C19 FT

For over two weeks now, we have been updating the BullochCountyVOAD.org website with critical information, but we still need help spreading the word about this site. Please check it out now and share this with all of your friends and family.

Almost hourly someone reaches out about information from what times are the grocery stores open, what to do if you think you have COVID-19, what you can do to help, what resources are available for your business, how to file for unemployment, where to get free food, and the list goes on.

We felt that instead of answering the same questions hundreds of times, we would compile an evolving list that answers all of your frequently asked questions.

We are working hard to provide answers to questions you may not have even thought of.  This is a tremendous community resource that we know you will find very valuable.

A question we get OFTEN is what the heck is Bulloch VOAD and how do I volunteer?  Click here for the answer to that.

Everything on BullochCountyVoad.org is vetted so you get the most accurate information possible.  Most of the information you need is linked back to the source site so you get the most updated information possible.

With everything being so fluid, this page updates often.  We encourage everyone to visit it at least once per day.

We did this because we understand how much information is coming at you right now.  We also understand how frustrating it is to see something important and when you need it, you can’t remember where you saw it.  Hopefully this will help solve that issue.

We are getting information directly from Bulloch County Public Safety’s emergency operations center, Georgia VOAD who is embedded in the state emergency operations center and National VOAD who is embedded in the national emergency operations center, along with other valuable local sources.

Below is a copy of the BullochCountyVOAD.org page so you will have an idea of what is available there.

COVID-19 TESTING

Since the collection site opened in Statesboro there is a lot of confusion regarding how to get tested.  The only way you can get a test is with a doctors order at the Statesboro location or through a commercial lab.  DPH is asking for you to call the doctors office first or the State Hotline (844) 442-2681 to see if you meet the criteria for testing.  Currently testing is being prioritized for those who SYMPTOMATIC and have a higher risk for COVID-19 such as people over the age of 60 and those with chronic health conditions such as heart and lung disease, hypertension and diabetes.   Additionally, healthcare workers, first responders, law enforcement and others who come in contact every day with people who may be infected but are well and do not unknowingly spread COVID-19 to others.

DO NOT WALK INTO A DOCTORS OFFICE OR ER IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS CALL YOUR DOCTORS OFFICE FIRST.

UNINSURED PATIENTS WITH NO DOCTOR SHOULD CALL YOUR Federal Qualified Healthcare Center which is EAST GEORGIA HEALTH CENTER at  912-764-9196 – or HEARTS AND HANDS CLINIC at 912-681-9519 – 9 am – 4 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am – noon, Wednesday and Friday.

Statesboro Doctors offices are reporting very limited testing supplies in their office and a long and difficult process to get you tested at the drive up collection center.
