Synovus, the Columbus, Georgia-based financial services company, recently announced the winners of its annual Chairman’s Awards. Julie Anderson, a 16-year veteran of Synovus in Statesboro, Georgia, received the William B. Turner Community Impact Award. Anderson is a SBA loan closing specialist for Synovus, based at the Statesboro bank’s Main Street branch.

William B. Turner Community Impact Award is named in honor of the former Chairman of Synovus’ Executive Committee for his deep commitment to serving individuals and the community.

Turner has inspired others through his deep moral and spiritual convictions to make a difference in the lives of team members and their families.

Anderson’s nomination

Andersons’s nomination noted in part: After the tragic loss of her son Luke in 2010, Julie and her husband Greg, founded a nonprofit, Luke’s Project, focused on guiding students to care for their neighbors and engage in the community around them to honor Luke’s passion for service.

Partnering with local high schools, her nonprofit Luke’s Project has completed two construction projects, one to provide a tiny house nurse’s station at a camp for foster children in Bulloch County, and one to provide 80 beds for children who otherwise wouldn’t have a bed to sleep in.  They also provide scholarships to community minded high school student’s annually.

The service she has exemplified not only blessed the children in our area, but it has also been an inspiration to others within Synovus and the community.

The James H. Blanchard Leadership Award, the James D. Yancey Customer Covenant Award, the William B. Turner Community Impact Award, and the Synovus Game Changer Award honor team members who best represent the company’s culture and its focus on leadership, customer satisfaction, serving others, and innovation.

Winners of the awards, which are collectively known as the Chairman’s Awards, are selected from nominations submitted by team members across Synovus’ five-state footprint.
