Eddie Frazier (Frazier), chair of the Statesboro High School Drama department, delivered a spectacular SOLD OUT performance as part of the Averitt’s ONE series at the Whitaker Black Box Theater on Friday night.

The One series was created by Michael Whitaker, who directs the series and features local artists, story tellers and musicians.  Friday’s show featured Frazier who opened with a “this is your life” style interview conducted by ACA board member Reesie Fuller.  Frazier discussed his childhood and recognized people throughout his life that had been a major influence on him.

After a brief intermission, the second half included sections of songs, dance and acting by Frazier.  In typical Frazier style, he used the event designed to celebrate his life and tremendous impact on thousands of children in our community as yet one more opportunity to showcase and highlight his students.  He featured many former and current students.

In a touching tribute to his mom, he opened the show with one of her favorite songs accompanied by her on piano.

It is easy to see how Frazier is so loved by his students.  His talent is incredible, his wit is sharp and his ability to speak powerfully to each person in the room is such a wonderful gift.

Eddie Frazier has been teaching drama at Statesboro High School since 2001, and has been the theater director since 2004. He’s directed dramatic pieces such as Wit, Suddenly, Last Summer, ‘night, Mother, and The Whales of August as well as numerous large musical theater productions such as The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Cinderella, Charlotte’s Web, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Mulan. He also directed 9 to 5: The Musical, ‘night, Mother and Guys, and Dolls for the Averitt STARS. He was the voice of Audrey II in the STARS production of Little Shop of Horrors, and co-directed the Averitt Youth Theater’s production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. He also starred as Uncle Fester in The Addams Family at the Averitt Center.

ONE Series is exclusively sponsored by Brinson, Williams and Groomes Insurance.
