Local Morning Radio Show Returns to Statesboro's Eagle 94.9

Fulfilling his promise of localizing Statesboro’s radios Stations, Bryan Steele, Owner/Manager has returned a local morning radio show on Eagle 94.9. The show co-hosted by Steele and Travis Bilger, Account Executive and on-air personality, airs weekdays from 6 AM to 10 AM.  They feature local guests on the show between 8 AM and 9 AM each morning.

The Eagle 94.9 morning show launched January 13th and has already created quite a buzz around town.

Here are some of the guests who have already appeared on the show.

1/13 – DeWayne Grice – talked about the top stories in Statesboro for 2019

1/14 – Milan Berry – Member of GS Equestrian team

1/15 – Justin Miller – recreation at GS, specifically Humans vs Zombies game

1/16 – Justin Peay – owner of Divvy Desk. Talked about office sharing and Grand Opening

1/17 – Rahn Hutcheson – Director of Averitt Center for the Arts. Talked about upcoming events and benefits of being a member.

1/20 – Allen Muldrew – Executive Director of Statesboro DDA. Discussed events downtown and importance of a vibrant downtown,

1/21 – Stephen Pennington – CEO of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Discussed facilities and improvements of hospital

1/22 – Skip Alford – New President of Statesboro/Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce. Discussed new initiatives at the chamber and what the chamber does for the community

1/23 – 4AM Drako – local rap artist. Discussed the music culture in Statesboro

1/24 – Dark Desert Highway Band. (Eagles cover band). Performed and talked about upcoming benefit for Georgia Police K-9 Association

1/28 – Statesboro Mayor Jonathon McCollar. Discussed economic development, infrastructure, neighborhood revitalization, transportation issues, city campus expansion, change in city council makeup.

1/29 – Ronda Lee. To discuss preparation for filing income taxes.

The Acquisition

Since Bryan and Lee Steele acquired  Statesboro’s  radios stations last year, they have been busy upgrading and updated the stations technically.  He purchased the two remaining FM stations 106.5 and 94.9 in addition to WWNS and WPTB which operates, as both AM and FM stations.  WWNS is 1240 AM and 107.7 FM.  WPTB is 850 AM and 99.7 FM.  Steele also acquired the WPTB office off of Williams Road and the WWNS office on East Olliff Street.

They have completed the plan to move the operations for all of the stations to East Olliff Street office.

  • 94.9 FM – The Eagle – Adult Contemporary
  • 107.7 FM and 1240 AM WWNS – Fox News 107.7
  • 99.7 FM and 850 AM  – Top 40

Bryan Steele is well known in local media circles.  He began his career in radio at age 13 working in his father’s radio station in Hinesville and has over 45 years of experience in radio and television.  24 years of his career was spent in television with WJCL and Comcast.  The remainder in radio.  He has managed radio stations throughout southeast Georgia for the past decade.

“I understand how valuable it is for Statesboro and Bulloch County to have a true local radio station and our plan is to return that to the community”, said Bryan Steele.  “Our goal is to have as much local programming as possible from local sports to a live, local morning show.  Lee and I are excited about the ownership of these stations and restoring them to the vital operations they can and should be in Statesboro and Bulloch County,”
