Tomorrow, November 6th is election day, a day all of us will be thrilled to see come and go. Voter turn out has been very heavy statewide because of a highly competitive Governors race in which voters will decide if Stacey Abrams or Brian Kemp will follow term limited Nathan Deal as Governor.
According to Ryan Anderson’s website, www.georgiavotes.com so far in 2018, 2,080,674 people have voted early in Georgia. At this point in 2014, that number was 940,319.
Total turnout for 2018 is 121.3% higher in early voting over 2014.
Pat Jones, Election Supervisor for Bulloch County confirmed that 11,199 Bulloch County voters and already voted through early and absentee ballots. That includes 914 absentee ballots that have been returned out of 1,341 ballots requested. This is 174% higher than Bulloch voters who voted early in the last midterm and statewide election which was held in 2014.
Comparing 2018 with 2014
Here are a few interesting numbers to look at when comparing 2014 to 2018.
- 9,210 additional voters have been added to the voter rolls since 2014
- 5,320 (44.0%) of 2018 early voters did not vote in the 2014 election
- 12,090 people have voted so far in 2018.
- That is 174.1% higher than in 2014
- Women have out voted men by over 1,500 votes
- 4,479 Bulloch Countian’s voted early. Included in that number is a total of 550 total absentee ballots that were returned by mail.
- Election day in 2014, another 9,646 voted bringing the total number of votes in the 2014 election to 14,125 or 43.21% turn out.
The real question for all of you political junkies is what does all this mean and does it give any indication as to who may win the elections tomorrow?
The answer to those questions is that I have no clue what this means or who will win.
What is important is that everyone exercises their right to vote.
Polls open at 7 AM and will close at 7 PM statewide.
