In spite of questionable weather throughout the day Friday the rain held off and Georgia Southern’s A Day for Statesboro was a great success. East Main Street was closed and transformed into a showcase of both Georgia Southern and our community.

In spite of  questionable weather throughout the day Friday the rain held off and Georgia Southern’s A Day for Statesboro was a great success.

East Main Street was closed and transformed into a showcase of both Georgia Southern and our community.

A large stage featured live entertainment all evening.  Leopold’s ice cream gave away free Vanilla and True Blue ice cream.

The courthouse square and East Main street was lined with tents featuring university departments and organizations and local businesses.  GUS and Freedom greeted fans and posed for photos as did student athletes.

Food trucks provided a delicious touch to the festival and are always a big hit.

A Day for Statesboro grew out of A Day for Southern which is a 45-year-old tradition that has strengthened the relationship between Georgia Southern University and the Statesboro-Bulloch County community.

The event was a celebration hosted by Georgia Southern in conjunction with the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority (DSDA).
